Guitars are stringed instruments that belong to the family of chordophones. Chordophones are instruments that produce sound due to the vibration of strings. The modern day guitar has many parents that have contributed to the growth of this instrument.

The guitar is played by fretting the neck with one hand, and strumming/picking the strings with the other. Usually, a guitar has six strings that can be strummed/picked with either bare hands or a pick. Although there are some other variations of the guitar as well that have 4/8/12 strings, 6 strings are generally the norm.

There are many types of guitars, the primary ones being Acoustic, Electric, and Classical.
